Savings at Sea

EliteTravelGal is rushing off to catch a flight to warm sunny West Palm Beach so today's blog post is short and sweet. If you want to see Europe in 2009, take advantage of the up to $1,500 (per suite) discount offered by Seabourn Cruises on select summertime Mediterranean and European sailings booked by January 31, 2009. Examples of itineraries include a June 1st sailing to Scandinavia and Russia, a July 4th sailing through Italy and an August 1st sailing through the gorgeous Greek isles. Consider the $750 per head discount Seabourn's post-holiday gift to you. Another option, if you like the idea of cruising pre-high-season crowds, is to sail in April to spots including Spain, Greece and Portugal for 50 percent off the published rates!

We've got dozens of other European cruise offers from luxury lines ranging from free air to room category upgrades. Think how nice it would be to board your luxury ship and only have to unpack once while leisurely sailing from port to port. Just one of the reasons EliteTravelGal is such a big fan of luxury cruising. Contact us for more details by clicking here.

Going Once, Going Twice...

While researching availability this week-end for clients who decided a last-minute New Year's getaway was a must, we came up with a few options for the ultra-procrastinator so we thought we'd also share them with you (just in case your wanderlust is setting in...).

A quick and easy option is to head to sunny South Florida, where our clients enjoy VIP status and exclusive extra perks at three beachfront Ritz-Carltons (Naples, Palm Beach & Ft. Lauderdale). Rates vary based upon location, so inquire quickly if you want in. NB: All of our Ritz-Carlton rates include breakfast; in Palm Beach, clients also receive an $85/daily food & beverage credit. Another option still available over New Year's Eve is the Four Seasons Palm Beach (pictured), with rates from $599 (including breakfast for two iplus a one-category upgrade if available). Be sure to stay New Year's Day so you can pamper yourself at the brand new spa.

Further afield, there's still end-of-year space (as we type) at Cotton Bay Village in St. Lucia, a beautiful new residential-style Small Luxury Hotel catering to families as well as couples. A 25 percent off promo means rates over New Year's start at just $517/night for a spacious 1,300 square-foot private villa with pool view and full kitchen.

Out here in SoCal (where EliteTravelGal is based) the weather's finally taken a turn for the better with predictions of 70s and sunny for the entire week. Great rates and VIP treatment can still be had on New Year's Eve at The Peninsula Beverly Hills (from $495), Montage Beverly Hills (from $395), The London West Hollywood (from $269), Hotel Casa Del Mar (from $425) and Hotel Oceana Santa Monica (from $244)...just to name a few!

If Vegas is more your style, Lady Luck is with you as we've never seen New Year's Eve rates this low this time of year! Choose from Mandalay Bay ($369 on New Year's Eve dropping to $169 on Jan 1), Trump Las Vegas ($289 then $179 on Jan 1) or MGM Grand ($299 then $159). Does anyone even remember Vegas having space for New Year's Eve just 48 hours before the big event? Great time to take advantage of Sin City's sinful offerings at a shameless price.

Lastly, we just got word of last-minute cancellations on a few phenomenal, 4-bedroom private villas in Punta Mita, Mexico (with full access to facilities at the adjacent Four Seasons) and in Anguilla as well. Inquire within (we've been advised to have our clients make an offer at this point!).

Crazy About Cabo

We love Los Cabos, especially this time of year (who couldn't use a margarita with salt under the sun to cope with the holiday frenzy?). And we especially love it when the Mexican resort town's toniest resorts are offering appealing deals such as those outlined below.

At the boutique Small Luxury Hotel Casa Natalia, a "Winter Getaway Package" runs from January 6 through March, and includes five nights for the price of four. Included in the winter package-- priced at just $1,890--is daily breakfast served on your private terrace and a tasting dinner for two.

Honeymooners seeking a seriously luxurious getaway at a reasonable price should look to Esperanza and its "Luna del Miel Honeymoon Package" available January 2 through June 15. The romance-infused package (priced at $5,264) includes four nights in an Oceanview Casita with infinity-edge hot tub, private round-trip airport transfers, daily breakfast for two, one dinner for two plus a two-hour couples' spa treatment.

Another enticing option for those needing a quick escape is offered by Las Ventanas al Paraiso, one of our favorite resorts (pictured) in Mexico. The Rosewood resort's Runway to Paradise Package includes three nights in an Oceanview Junior Suite, private round-trip airport transfers, welcome margaritas, daily breakfast for two, one massage per person, and a complimentary Las Ventanas Air Meal upon departure. From Jan 2 through May 26, the three-night deal is priced at $4,909 inclusive of all taxes and fees.

Last but not least is One&Only Palmilla, with its seven-night "One&Only Moments Package" for two. This week-long indulgence includes Champagne upon arrival, private roundtrip airport transfers, daily breakfast and lunch, plus dinner for two on five of the seven nights, (one at Jean-George's MARKET, another served on the beach). Also included is an extended spa experience complete with a couple's yoga session, facials, massages, a wellness lunch and more; two rounds of golf at Palmilla Golf Club; a Hummer Adventure Tour; a horseback tour of a lagoon; cooking classes and lunch featuring local Baja wines. The seven-night nearly all-inclusive package starts at $9,459 and is available Jan 3 through May 13.

New Year's Under the Sun

With New Year's Eve fast approaching, there's still time to plan a last-minute, warm-weather, end-of-year escape from destinations including Puerto Rico, Jamaica and Florida, too.
Couples in need of a romantic getaway should look no further than the gorgeous, beachside Royal Plantation Resort & Spa (pictured) in Ochos Rios. A limited number of oceanfront suites remain for the holiday period, with reduced rates offered before Dec. 26th and after Jan. 3. Depending on dates chosen, nightly all-inclusive rates average around $1,200 per couple and include round-trip airport transfers, all meals, all drinks, unlimited greens fees, beach butler service, taxes/gratuities and of course, VIP treatment throughout your stay.

Families seeking a last-minute option will find the perfect setting at the beachfront Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort, Rose Hall, Jamaica. A limited number of Club Level rooms remained at press time, with rates from $919/night inclusive of daily breakfast if booked through Elite Travel International, an affiliate of TravelStore Platinum. Club Level guests enjoy complimentary cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages and light snacks throughout the day.

Those looking to ring in the New Year in elegant quiet style will love the charming Horned Dorset Primavera in Rincon, Puerto Rico. At this Relais & Chateaux property overlooking the sea just two hours from San Juan, spacious one-bedroom residences and suites are available Dec. 27-Jan. 4th from $1,470/night inclusive of three meals per day. The four-acre, hillside resort on the island's scenic west side boasts stunning bi-level villas, each individually furnished and equipped with balconies and private plunge pool. Nearby activities run the gamut from deep sea fishing to snorkeling, diving and day trips to nearby rain forests and historic colonial towns. Gambling and salsa dancing are also within easy reach.

Lastly, a sun-filled stateside option is available at Costa d’Este Beach Resort in Vero Beach, Florida. Owned by Gloria & Emilio Estefan, the new (opened in June) oceanfront property offers the area’s best resort spa, an infinity-edge pool, cabana bar, high-tech gym, and a great location right on Ocean Drive. The All that Glitters New Year’s Eve package is $475 per couple and includes overnight accommodations, a four-course dinner with wine at Oriente, the resort's hip signature restaurant. Also included is VIP access to both the Crystal Ultra Lounge and Cabana Pool Deck festivities. Additional room nights can be booked pre- and post-New Year's Eve from about $250/night.

For more information on these and other last-minute, warm-weather getaway options, contact The Elite Travel Gal.

Luxury Travel HAS Gone to the Dogs

Being a dog-lover/owner myself, I'm always thrilled to see a luxury hotel come up with a creative way to promote its pet-friendly status. And since one of my dogs, Madeline (the rescued Shih Tsu/Bichon mix pictured) was among the first canines to overnight at the Mandarin Oriental Miami when it first opened, I've always had a soft spot for the beautiful Bayside property. Not to mention, I love the hotel's sleek Asian-meets-modern decor, it's bayside pool and bi-level spa with the best Thai massage in the states.

To attract other dog-loving luxury travelers, and to tie-in with Marley & Me--the new movie starring Jennifer Aniston that was filmed nearby, Mandarin Oriental, Miami offers a pooch-themed package that includes a two-night stay for owner and pet (the latter gets a plush dog bed, a bone-shaped mat with food and water bowls, special edible treats and bottled water). It also includes a private session with a certified dog trainer; play time on the hotel's South Lawn with dog butlers available to deliver refreshments and toys like frisbees and tennis balls; and once-daily pet walking services around Brickell Key. Additional inclusions are daily breakfast and a two-course, in-room dinner for guests and their pet, plus two tickets to Marley & Me (opening XMAS day) and a copy of the original book penned by Josh Grogan. Through April, the two-night Miami Dog Days package is priced at $1,298. The same deal next summer (May 24 through September) is a steal at $858.

Winter Rate Cuts (Hotels Follow Fed's Lead!)

There's no plan for a billion-dollar bailout plan to help those jonesing to travel, but luxury hotels ARE following the Fed's example by cutting their rates. They're also offering unprecedented bang for the buck, perfect for wallet watchers in the mood for a winter getaway.

For example, Manhattan's chic Hotel Gansevoort offers a "Don't Break the Buck" package priced from $365/night through March. Included at the downtown hot spot are superior accommodations, breakfast for two on the house, hot toddies--and if you wish--a dip in the heated rooftop pool, plus your choice of an in-room movie and a Hotel Gansevoort music CD as a parting gift.

Following a recent $20 million revamp, The Equinox Resort & Spa (seen above) in Manchester Village, Vermont, invites guests to head north for wintertime fun (think off-road Land Rover driving lessons in the snow!) and bargain shopping. Through April, this pet-friendly Luxury Collection Resort offers an "Economic Antidote" shopping package priced from just $149/night during the week and $199 on weekends. The deal includes accommodations, use of heated indoor pool/fitness center, a $50 gift card to spend at the nearby Manchester Designer Outlets plus an additional vouchers offering up to $750 in savings at the high-end outlets (including Polo, Theory, Giorgio Armani, Escada, Furla, J. Crew, Tumi and Coach).

Those who want to ski and spa during their value-added winter stay can do so in snowy Manchester, New Hampshire, at The Manor on Golden Pond, a charming Small Luxury Hotel. In addition to three nights’ accommodation with all meals included, a two-day ski pass and private ski lessons, guests will enjoy a gourmet ski picnic on the slopes followed by a warm-up of afternoon tea (or chilled champagne if they prefer) PLUS their choice of a relaxing spa treatment (valued up to $110). The three-night Ski & Spa package is priced from $2,340 for two through the end of March.

For more info on booking these and other exclusive winter packages, contact TheEliteTravelGal.

HOTEL (s) CALIFORNIA

Sick of the snow back east? Still trying to come up with a plan for New Year's Eve? Think sun and fun, Southern California-style. A number of our favorite hotels along the SoCal coast are offering incredible December deals. Some seem almost too good to be true, but we promise, they're not. Book any of those listed below through Elite Travel International and we'll make sure you have a holiday (and/or New Year's to remember!).

At Montage Laguna Beach (pictured), enjoy a New Year's Eve Extravaganza package that includes a three-night stay at the beachfront resort, daily breakfast for two, complimentary parking and two tickets to the hotel's swanky New Year's Eve Gala. Prices start at $2,009 for accommodations in a deluxe Horizon King.

The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel offers a Bed and Breakfast package (applicable throughout the holiday season) priced from just $349/night inclusive of accommodations and full breakfast for two. A six-course gourmet New Year's Eve dinner with live music, dancing and festivities is offered for $275 per person.

In Santa Monica, the oceanview Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows offers a great holiday rate of $319/night AND includes a $100 American Express gift card per stay which is perfect for those last-minute gifts (conveniently, the shops of the Third Street Promenade are just steps away!).

For those who prefer to stay off the beach and closer to Beverly Hills, Luxe Hotel Sunset Boulevard (halfway between the two) is the perfect choice. With spacious suites and a soothing Zen-style decor, this pet-friendly property is truly a hidden gem. It's also the best deal in town with rates of just $209 through February for an oversized junior suite and a 10 percent discount at the beautiful On Sunset restaurant.

Sail like a Celebrity!

Thinking about a winter-time cruise through the Caribbean or somewhere exotic? Cruising is always a great value and now more than ever, especially for vacation-loving families watching their dimes. We've got a slew of great cruise deals from Celebrity and Royal Caribbean, but there is one little catch. These deeply-discounted sailings, offered on select dates through spring 2009, must be booked through us on Tuesday, Dec. 16th (these special rates are first-come, first-served).

Examples of the amazing time-sensitive offerings include a 7-night Eastern Caribbean sailing in a veranda stateroom aboard the brand new Celebrity Solstice from $849/person on Jan 18th or Feb. 1st. A 14-night sailing from Sydney to Auckland on board the Celebrity Milennium starts from just $1,199/person in a veranda stateroom. (Suites are also available on from $2,399/person).

Additional dates and itineraries available--including South America--but only on Tuesday so be in touch today if you want details or to book!

FREE SLEEPS, PART II

Offering a free night or two to paying guests isn't the most original promotion from luxury hotels these days, but our deal-filled in-box signals a trend that's here to stay. Until the economy picks up and hotel occupancies bounce back, anyways. Here are few of the latest enticements to land in our lap this week: At the brand new 11-suite Tintswalo Atlantic on the ocean in Cape Town (where I'm seen--in the white top--enjoying breakfast with friends), stay for three nights and you'll only pay for two. Nightly rates from $710/room include a gourmet dinner on arrival, daily breakfast (check out the oceanfront spread!) and afternoon tea plus complimentary shuttle service to the V&A Waterfront. Extend your stay in South Africa and experience any of the Tintswalo properties (including Tintswalo Safari Lodge and Tintswalo Waterfall, a lovely 16-suite boutique hotel outside Jo-berg) for seven nights, while only being billed for six. Book through us and we'll get you spa treatments, wine and more thrown into the deal.

Enjoy a different style of posh (and surprisingly affordable) living in Vegas at Palms Place Hotel & Spa. This 599-suite pleasure palace not only offers a $259 nightly rate (inclusive of a one-way airport limo transfer and accommodations in a 1,200 square-foot suite) but kindly throws in the the third night gratis.

A fifth night free at Four Seasons Wailea at Maui could be just the remedy for early winter blues. Offered Jan. 4-17, Jan 23-Mar 12, and April 19-June 26 (and again on select fall '09 dates), this deal applies to all rooms/suites except the lowest-priced mountainside rooms and the ultra-swanky Maile Suite.
Sister property Four Seasons Costa Rica also has a fifth-night free program in play in 2009, as well as a "pay for five, get the 6th and 7th free" when booking a two- or three-room private residence Jan 5-March 12. Come summer, families who pay for one room will get a second for the kiddies at half the price. Exclusive: Book your Costa Rica stay through Elite Travel International, and enjoy VIP treatment and Preferred Partner perks such as daily breakfast and a round of golf!

CIAO BELLA!

As much as I love all things Italia, I just don't love being there when the cities are overflowing with tourists and cruise ship passengers. I much prefer to stroll the streets (and shops) of Rome, Florence, Milan and Venice when crowds are non-existent and Gucci's on sale. Yep, you heard me right. Twice a year (January and July), those in the know head to Italy for outrageously-discounted designer duds. In fact, the best retail bargains (handbags, shoes, clothes and more!) I've ever encountered pop up in shops all over Italy just post-Christmas. The super sales start the first week-end in January and airfares drop, too (note: Elite Travel Gal even found a $671 fare on a round-trip flight from JFK-FCO Jan 7-15th!).

Wondering where to stay during your shopping save-a-thon? In Milan, it's all about the 15th-century convent-turned-Four Seasons Hotel Milano (above), which caters to fashionistas (or sale-seeking recessionistas as the case may be), with a dedicated Shopping Package. Through January 15th, stay two nights (from 1300 Euros) and the third night is half price (from 325Euros). The deal includes daily breakfast, a 100Euro dining credit, 25 percent discount on limo service (ideal for getting around the fashion capital in cooler weather), and special shopping privileges at top boutiques exclusive to hotel guests.

Prefer to stay longer and city hop? You simply won't do better than the 6-night Baglioni Tour offered by Baglioni Hotels. Spend two nights at your choice of any three of the group's luxury hotels in Milan, Bologna, Venice, Verona, Florence (seen top right), Punta Ala and Rome (closed for major renovation through March) and the package rate starting at 2100Euros includes an impressive daily buffet breakfast in a beautiful "breakfast room", a special gift at each property, a dining or spa credit valued around $US50, and priority room upgrades when available. The 6-night stay must be completed within a two-week period, and rates may vary based on dates/hotels chosen and availability.Add Image

Trust us, the January sales in Italy are the best reason to book a flight to the boot-shaped country now. Contact us for additional insider tips on where to find the best booty. NB: We've got access to the best personal shoppers in Italy who are more than happy to lend a bag-carrying hand!

There IS such thing as a FREE stay...

Who ever said nothing in life is free hasn't been talking to luxury hoteliers lately. An unprecedented number of hotels, including a number of our favorites, are enticing visitors to head their way in '09 with FREE (yes, totally FREE) nights. Of course, you have to pay for a few to get the freebies, but all things considered, these are amazing deals. In Riviera Maya, Mexico, for example, Rosewood Mayakobá's “Escape a Little Longer” package includes a fifth night free with four booked (valid for stays January 3 through May 2, 09).

In the Turks and Caicos at popular Parrot Cay (where Ben and Jen got hitched), you'll get not one but TWO nights free if you book and pay for five nights for a stay through the end of January. Unlimited yoga and Pilates are included.

Also in the Turks and Caicos at the news Seven Stars resort, one free night is added to every three-night stay and two free nights gifted to those staying a week or more. Added bonus: a 20% resort discount on all food and beverages, spa treatments and boutique purchases.

Book through Elite Travel International and of course, extra-VIP treatment is guaranteed!

Better to Cruise than to Lose...out on these deals that is!

Our phone's been ringing off the hook (yay!) with clients seeking last-minute holiday deals and this is good news for the cruise lines that have gone the aggressive route to fill up their ships. It's also great news for any of you who haven't yet made plans to celebrate the New Year in a special way, as you can still score a last-minute vacation at sea: Celebrity's brand new 2,800-passenger Solstice (with a fabulous kids' program for all ages, a Vegas-style casino, HUGE spa/fitness center and five gourmet specialty restaurants) has space available on its Dec. 28th sailing from Ft. Lauderdale to Ft. Lauderdale, with stops in San Juan, St. Kitts and St. Maarten--from about $5,000 for two. Royal Caribbean's brand new Liberty of the Seas (sister to the Freedom) sails the Western Caribbean (Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Mexico) on Dec. 27th for 7 nights from about $5,400 for two. Or, set sail for South America and Antarctica aboard the Crystal Symphony, departing Dec. 22 from Valpraiso, Chile with stops in the Falkland Islands, and Uruguay, docking in Buenos Aires on Jan. 9th. Prices from $7,995/person for the 18-day holiday adventure, Crystal Cruise-style. NB: All bookings are eligible for $100 onboard credit when booked through Elite Travel International as our holiday gift to you!

South African Sojourns

First off, my apologies for overpromising that The EliteTravelGal would publish daily while on the road in South Africa for two weeks. In many cases, we simply did not have speedy internet access and in others, we were too busy enjoying the sights and sounds from scenic Cape Town to the Winelands of Franschoek and Stellenbosch, down to Cape Point and up through the beach towns and nature preserves in Hermanus and Nysna and of course, sealing the adventure with not one, not two, but three very different safari experiences. Of the three, I had two favorites...and for very different reasons. At Tintswalo Safari Lodge (sister property to Tintswalo Atlantic), in the Manyeleti Game Reserve adjacent to Kruger National Park, we loved the explorer-themed suites with their plunge pool-outfitted decks, luxurious furnishings, and spacious baths. The staff was incredible, especially Andrew the guest relations manager and Patrick, our wonderful safari guide who steered us carefully off-road in our open-air Land Crusier to view elephant, giraffe, cheetah, lions, buffalo, rhino, impala, zebra, leopards and more. Safari drives were made even more special with surprise stops for sundowners (cocktails) under the stars and breakfasts in the bush. The separate five-bedroom Manor House is perfect for families, as they will enjoy the benefits of their own private chef, butler and safari guide in a comfortable and spacious setting (NB: kids are catered to and welcomed on safari drives!).
A very special experience was also had at Royal Madike Luxury Safari Residence, a private 6-suite residence in the malaria-free Madikwe Reserve (an hour by scheduled charter to J-berg). Much about the exclusive-use residence (meaning it can only be booked by one party of four to 12 people at any one time) reminded me of Necker Island in the BVIs. From the high-ceiling, open-style, beautifully decorated floor plan (see photo of the main lodge interior) to the incredible food (as a gluten-free freak, the chef won me over with his wheat-free versions of everything served to the rest of the group!). I loved the colors used throughout (lots of purples, greens, pinks, oranges--all which blended beautifully with the dark wood floors, unique seating areas) and especially loved the two-bedroom Presidential Suite with its full kitchen, upstairs TV room and lounge, full dining room, and huge outdoor deck with private plunge pool, vintage-style bath tub and outdoor shower. Royal Madikwe is ideal for a family, a group of friends or several couples. The staff, especially Gillian, Dean, Godfrey, Valencia and Eva took such incredible care of us...the girls not only waited on us hand and foot, but they have also both been trained as masseuses and will bring the table to your suite (or beneath a shaded tree beside the pool, if you prefer). Spoiled by all the game we saw at Tintswalo, we weren't as interested in more of the same at Madikwe and preferred to relax and enjoy our private paradise. But that said, we did see five herds of elephant (including many babies!) gathering at the same watering hole one afternoon which was made all the more interesting by the mating act performed in front of our eyes!
With the dollar to rand exchange rate about 10 to 1, NOW is the time to get to South Africa. Tintswalo is sweetening the pot with its "Pay for 6, Stay 7" promotion (it can be combined among its three properties at the beach, in the bush, and just outside J-berg) and to us, Royal Madikwe is a steal at$3,000/night (based on 4 people) for use of the ENTIRE 6-suite residence, with all meals, drinks and game drives included (additional adults beyond four will pay about $580/night). Contact us to find out more, and remember, when you book through Elite Travel International, VIP treatment is guaranteed at these properties (both of which now make my list of favorites!).

The Other Side of Cape Town

Yes, we loved Cape Grace Hotel and its central V&A Waterfront location. But, a few days into our South African adventure, we explored beyond this area of Cape Town and discovered what very might qualify as one of the most unique, special and romantic hotels I have seen in a very long time. Part of the Tintswalo Collection, the brand new (opened in October), 11-suite Tintswalo Atlantic overlooks the Atlantic Ocean from its location on scenic Chapman's Peak road. Each oceanview suite is individually decorated/named after an island worldwide (our Cousine Island Seychelles-themed room--seen above--featured aquas/natural hues, a fabulous bath with open shower, vintage-style tub, and unbelievable ocean views). Other worldwide destinations represented through color themes and decor styles include the Caribbean, Greece, Italy, Madagascar, Africa, Bali and Turkey. The WOW factor of the property extends throughout the public spaces, built from wood and glass to blend harmoniously with the natural environs. A lounge with overstuffed sofas/chairs and divine decor, a bar, wine cellar, dining room, an open, interactive chef's kitchen, and the decktop heated Jacuzzi pool all share the same stunning sea views. The staff, including Ryno, the executive chef and his wonderful wife Melissa, will make you feel as though you are an old friend within no time. Trust us, you won't want to leave. NB: Book through Elite Travel International and rates include daily breakfast, the first night's dinner (custom-created just for you if you like), VIP treatment and of course, some nice extra perks!

Crazy About Capetown

For all of you who have South Africa on your wish list, NOW is the time to go. The dollar's stronger than it's been in a while ($1 equals @10 South African RAND), the weather's warm and sunny through March, and there's an incredible range of things to do far and beyond the must-experience safari (from winetasting to visiting local townships to hanging out with the South Afican penguins!). Start with a few days in Capetown, at the Cape Grace Hotel. Not only is the 121-boutique hotel perfectly located on the V&A Waterfront, but service is unbelievable, rooms were just totally redone, the water views are excellent, the Whisky Bar hopping, and dining at Signal, the hotel's restaurant, is a must (the sole meuniere and the rib eye are among the priciest entrees at just $22-ish, half what either would cost at a top restaurant at home! Honeymooners will love the romantic gifts the hotel provides for them nightly, and kids are also catered to (we love the pint-sized bathrobes and slippers laid out for them at night, and the African story-time held in their honor). Book a stay here through Elite Travel International and we'll ensure VIP treatment by our friend Nigel Pace, the hotel GM. Not to mention, you'll enjoy lots of extra perks as our exclusive rates include daily breakfast, complimentary use of the hot spa facilities, 24-hour free internet access in the biz center, in-room work-out equipment, chauffered rides within 6 mile radius and your choice of a traditional afternoon tea for two or a glass of local Cape wine with snacks. NB: Several luxury cruise ships sail here as well so inquire within if exotic luxury cruising's your style!

London Calling

It's a bit cold here in London (35 degrees upon arrival) for my tastes, but with the pound no longer worth double the dollar (it's closer to 1.5 at last look) it's a great time to take advantage of winter rates on offer at hotels citywide. The Chesterfield Mayfair, the sister property to its namesake in Palm Beach offers a 2-night package from 440GBP that includes two nights' accommodations, two tickets to the theater (you choose the show), drinks when you arrive and daily English breakfast. Or, if romance is in the air, surprise your sweetie with a stay at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park anytime in February. Rates from just 309 GBP/night include daily breakfast at The Park restaurant, a bottle of Jo Malone Red Roses bath oil and a room scattered with rose petals upon arrival. The best way to get across the pond, in our humble opinion, is on Virgin Atlantic--Upper Class, of course. The individual seat pods are the only we've seen that allow you to recline with your feet up, even upon take off. The entertainment's enough to entertain you the whole flight if you can't sleep, and the fact that the seat coverts to a flat bed, well, need we say more? Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow...

With all of the terrific winter ski packages currently on offer, it's a great time to book a snow-themed holiday. If you haven't yet made end-of-the-year plans, check out the terrific offerings at Four Seasons Jackson Hole . Minimum stay requirements are being relaxed and options include both rooms and private residences. Book the latter between Dec. 20-29th and get a fourth night free. Speaking of free, the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek has a fifth night free offer in place, valid over the holidays and all winter long. If Canada's calling your name, inquire about the four-night family package at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise (inclusive of daily breakfast, an in-room xmas tree, x-country skiing, a Christmas dinner, even bedtime stories for the kids). Or, visit Vancouver throughout the holidays, and we'll hook you up with a deal that includes accommodations at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, wine flights for two and a $100 gift certificate at the nearby shopping mall. These deals are NOT too good to be true. Contact us for more details.

CRYSTAL CLEAR

Want to travel but just not sure laying out a large amount of cash right now for all the obvious reasons? Hats off to companies like Crystal Cruises that understand what's happening in the world, and are coming up with creative ways to secure your bookings in a less painful way. For example, for sailings on board its beautiful Symphony and Serenity ships, Crystal now requires only a 5 percent deposit instead of a 10, PLUS gives you 7 days instead of 3 to hold a cabin before it cancels out AND allows you to outright cancel up to 45 days instead of 75 days prior to sailing without any penalty at all. These "ease the pain" booking modifications are simply smart business in these tough economic times and will go a long way towards getting people to think more seriously about taking a fabulous Crystal Cruise to Asia (ask us about the free nights being offered in Beijing and the double-category upgrade on select sailings), Europe (we've got the skinny on the best-priced sail dates), the South Pacific, Mexico and beyond in the days ahead. NB: We can also fill you in on how you can get a complimentary cabin if you round up a few "friends and family" to set sail with you in 2009. Contact us to learn more about Crystal's Value Sail Dates, itinerary options and exclusive amenities/perks we can offer aboard select sailings worldwide.

Sign of the Times...XMAS space at TOP hotels!

Unlike years past, hotels are actually PROMOTING the fact that they still have space available for our clients over XMAS and New Year's! Call it a sign of the times, but for consumers who were hesitant to commit to holiday plans, now's the time to make a move. Contact us for the inside scoop on rooms, cottages and suites available at the Ritz-Carlton properties in such destinations at the Bahamas, Cancun, Jamaica, San Juan, St. Thomas, and Florida (can you say Key Biscayne, Naples, Palm Beach AND South Beach). We are talking GREAT RATES and NO minimum stay requirements. If you prefer colder climes, we'll send you to the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek where your fifth night will be free or if golfing by the California coast fits your fancy, we've got amazing intro rates from the brand new Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach. Don't delay, as evidenced by the twinkling lights I saw yesterday in Beverly Hills and the annoying holiday music I heard all weekend, 'tis the season! NB: Our rates at these ritzy Ritz-Carltons include daily breakfast and in many cases, a gift in the form of a $100 resort credit! Email us at elitetravelgal@aol.com for priority bookings.

We've got amazing rates (inquire within) as a preferred partner of the property, and as a client of ours you'll also get breakfast, 24-hour flexible check-in/out, comp internet a $185 spa credit OR a one-way airport transfer and an upgrade if available at time of booking.
